About Me
I am a UK-based Orthopaedic Surgeon having trained in the UK, Australia, New Zealand, and France.
I hold undergraduate degrees from Oxford and Bristol Universities. I have a keen interest in all forms of trauma and elective surgery especially relating to conditions of the upper limb: shoulder, elbow, and hand.
I hold Fellowship status of the Royal College of Surgeons, and the NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Programme. I a Member of the British Society of Surgery of the Hand, the Faculty of Surgical Trainers, the British Orthopaedic Association, the General Medical Council and (formerly) the New Zealand Medical Council and the Australian Medical Council.
I have been awarded the prestigious European Diploma of Hand Surgery
Research and teaching
I have published numerous book chapters, letters, case reports, cohort studies, randomised control trials, and asystematic review and meta analysis which can be found here.
I am currently working sustainability initiatives in Orthopaedic Surgery and an exciting new project training surgeons how to recognise and learn from surgical mistakes.
I have presented oral or poster presentations both nationally and internationally.
I regularly participate in audit, teaching and have nationally recognised qualifications in management and leadership.
Work and outside work
I am a full time NHS Consultant at Homerton University Hospital in London.
I manage many acute and chronic conditions of the hand, wrist and elbow indlucing:
- Carpal Tunnel
- Trigger Finger
- Dupuytren's disease
- Nerve compression
- Cubital tunnel
- Osteoarthritis
- Rheumatoid/Inflammatory arthritis
- Instability
- Joint replacements
- Fractures
- Tendon and ligament injuries
Outside work I enjoy traveling in Europe, Aisa, Australasia, and South America and I have been short-listed for a travel writing award. In my spare time I am a long distance runner, yacht sailor, and keen gardener. I am also the former holder of Guinness World Record.
